The Canada Education Savings Grant, in plain language

The basic grant adds 20% to the first $2,500 contributed each year: up to $500 annually.
Depending on family income, the first $500 contributed may receive up to another $100.
Unused basic room can allow up to $1,000 of basic grant in a later year.
The lifetime CESG limit is $7,200 for each child.
Grants are available through the end of the calendar year the child turns 17.
At ages 16 and 17, the child must have had at least $2,000 contributed before the end of the year they turned 15, or at least $100 contributed in any four earlier years.
